Patriot Day
Tuesday, September 11th, 7:15 pm
The Village of Glendale Heights remembers Patriot Day on September 11th with a silent display of police cars and fire trucks. The candlelight service starts at 7:15 pm on the front steps of Village Hall.  Please join Mayor Jackson and the Village Board, Glendale Heights Police Department, Glenside Fire Protection District, Bloomingdale Fire Protection District, neighbors and friends for a moment of silence and contemplation on Patriot Day.  For more information, contact the Mayor’s Office at 630-909-5303.

Glendale Heights Oktoberfest
Thursday, September 13th - Sunday, September 23rd
Join us for the seventh annual Glendale Heights Oktoberfest held at Camera Park in Glendale Heights. The festival will feature authentic German food prepared by renowned Chef Wolfgang of the acclaimed Schnitzel Platz Restaurant. We will also offer authentic Oktoberfest Bier imported directly from the Hofbräu Brewery in Munich, as well as beer from the oldest Brewery in the world, Weihenstephan Hefe Weiss Bier. Our friendly Dirndl-dressed servers will be there to provide you service with a smile, just like in München. To finish off your meal, there will be an assortment of wonderful Austrian and German pastries.

Experience live entertainment daily including strolling German “Oompah” entertainers in one of the most authentic festival tents. There will also be activities the whole family will enjoy. To round out the Glendale Heights Oktoberfest experience, there will be vendors with German products, souvenirs, hats, steins, and much more.

“Show & Shine” Car Show & Swap Meet
Sunday, September 16th, 10:00 am – 3:30 pm, Camera Park
Join us for this 36th annual classic event! Take a spin to see all the amazing vehicles, shop at the Swap Meet and peruse the Craft Fair.  The Show & Shine Car Show has 19 vehicle classes. Three trophies are awarded for each class.  There will be 10 specialty trophies awarded including “Best in Show” trophy.  If you have a vintage or rare car, enter it in the show!  Crafters and artists can also share your artistic flare and bring those used items in the Swap Meet!
Rain date is September 23.  

$12 pre-registration before September 16 or $15 day of show registration for vehicles.
$15 registration for Swap Meet, Crafters and Vendors.
Viewing admission is free!

Community Garage Sale ~ Les Puces de Glendale Heights
Sunday, September 16th, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, Camera Park
Families! Clean out the basement, attic and garage!  It’s time to get rid of all that stuff you no longer want in the grand tradition of the French flea markets.  Rent a space and sell it all at our 14th Annual Community Garage Sale.  Remember one man’s trash is another man’s trésor!  Nothing to sell?  Come out and shop the bargains.  Register for this event at the Sports Hub where you will receive an information packet including your spot(s) and a corresponding map.  Vendor arrival time:  7:00 am.  Event runs rain or shine.

Harvest Fest/Fishing Derby
Saturday, September 29th, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Heritage Park
Celebrate autumn’s arrival at Harvest Fest. Enjoy a day of fun activities for the whole family!  Activities include:  haunted farm house , pumpkin patch, face painting, hay rides, hot pepper eating contest, bake sale, fishing derby (9:00 am start), crafts, gauntlet of wings contest, family activities and food/drinks
(Alcoholic beverages for guests 21 and older will be for sale).

Family Health and Safety Fair
Wednesday, October 3rd, 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm, Sports Hub
Come to the Family Health and Safety Fair!  This free community event offers a Teddy Bear Clinic; child ID printing; flu shots; and screenings for blood pressure, body fat, diabetes, strength and fitness, and vision.  The event is sponsored by Marquardt School District 15, Amita Health Adventist Medical Center Glen Oaks, Queen Bee School District 16, Village of Glendale Heights, Glenside Fire Protection District, Bloomingdale Fire Protection District, Glenside Public Library District, Glenbard Township High School District 87,  Chicago Blower Corporation, and ER2 Image Group.  For more information, contact Debbie McKenzie at 630-260-6050.

Veterans Day
Sunday, November 11th, 11:00 am
The Village presents a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park (220 Civic Center Plaza) at 11:00 am marked by a Flag and Color Guard presentation, rifle salute, and a tribute to our Fallen Warriors.  For more information, contact the Mayor’s Office at 630-909-5303.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Monday, November 26th, 7:00 pm
The Village of Glendale Heights invites all residents to participate in the Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Come share the holiday spirit and witness Mayor Linda Jackson illuminate the Civic Center Complex with just a flick of the switch.  Bright lights will dazzle you while we enjoy the performances by the choruses of Glendale Heights schools.  Santa Claus will be the guest of honor as he ushers in the season alongside the Mayor.  Be sure to stop by Council Chambers following the ceremony to warm up with refreshments.

Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, December 15th, 9:00 am – 11:30 am
Share pancakes and coffee with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at this year’s Breakfast with Santa at the festively decorated Glendale Lakes Golf Club.  An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast is served including sausage and a beverage.  Photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus are available.  No registration required.
