Words from the Director
This has been a busy year for the Glendale Heights Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department. We have undertaken major projects at many of our parks in Glendale Heights. Tennis courts at Nazos and Ollman Parks were resurfaced. Also at Nazos Park, the community and staff worked together to install a new playground structure. Plans are underway to replace the playground structures at Siems, Mill Pond and Ollman Parks. These new structures will be installed before summer 2017. Several other parks received new amenities this past fall as the Village Board continues their initiative to create better play facilities for the residents of Glendale Heights.
Tennis courts and playgrounds are not the only areas that are seeing improvements. Walking paths at Gladstone, Nazos, Siems, and Heritage Parks will all see repairs and sealcoating to ensure that these well-traveled paths will have many more years of life in them. For our outdoor basketball fans, the Camera Park basketball court has been repainted and seal-coated. The basketball courts at Siems and Pheasant Ridge Parks will receive the same upgrades.
Besides upgrading and revitalizing our parks, the Village Board has also approved funding to start rebuilding our urban forest after the devastating loss of over 3,000 trees due to the Emerald Ash Borer. Parkway tree planting will begin this spring and we look forward to placing beautiful trees back into our neighborhoods.
With all these projects, and the day-to-day kids at the Sports Hub for PATH, preschool, dance, basketball, open gym, indoor soccer, karate, parties, educational classes and so much more, there is a lot going on in the Glendale Heights Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department. We hope that you will join us for a class, a sports league or a special event this season!
